The structure – geometry, inserted insulation and structural elements – of window functional joint – has a major impact on the final quality of the product and on its parameters. This article focuses on events, that take place in so called decompression chamber. The chamber is located in a functional joint, at the most close to the outer face of the structure (in a single-level insulation ystem is the decompression chamber replaced by the only chamber, extended through entire depth of the frame). The decompression chamber is always partly connected with the exterior.
Its main goal is to rid of rain water the kinetic energy and through gravitation, take it back to the exterior. As the measurement evidence shows [1], negligible but neglected is the impact of the compression chamber on the thermal parameters of the window. Both aspects – the structure rain water-resistence, and the structure thermal parameters – yet are singificantly influenced by the way of connection of the decompression chamber to the exterior, through design of drainages and ventilation holes in particular.
